Official Fansite © www.norbert-weisser.com, 2010                                                  This is the Official Fansite for Mr. Norbert Weisser                                       Site Design By:  JT eDesigns Norbert is not credited in this film, but never-the-less he has a role in it. This is another feature of his that does not appear on IMDb, but we are also working to get that corrected. Norbert plays the role of a Councilman in this movie that clocks in at over 3.5 hours long. It was trimmed in order to be more commercially viable for theaters, but the critics all said that was what ultimately destroyed the film, and resulted in it doing poorly at the box office -- not to mention receiving bad reviews. The full length feature is available on DVD and is quite an interesting movie. This western is based on events in 1890s Wyoming. Sheriff James Averill attempts to protect immigrant farmers from wealthy cattle interests. The immigrant farmers have been stealing cattle in order to have food.  Averill also clashes with a hired gun, Nathan Champion, over the woman they both love, Ella Watson. The Cattlemen’s Association has an illegal hitlist of over 120 names of the immigrants who are to be killed, including Ella. This film details the conflict between wealthy landowners and European immigrants who are attempting to build new lives on the American frontier, and culminates in a brutal battle. Heaven’s Gate is a 1980 film that was written and directed by Michael Cimino, who was the man who brought us the award- winning film The Deer Hunter. This film features Joseph Cotton in one of his last roles, a young Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Walken and Jeff Bridges, not to mention an endless cast -- there are literally dozens upon dozens of people in this film -- often times all used within the same scene. There is nothing quite like this film. Many thanks to Norbert for telling me the background of his involvement in this feature, as well as for sharing his screencaps with me.
